Laura Wilson is an integrated marketing communications professional that bridges the gap between the traditional and digital marketing worlds, creating and improving successful social media programs that fit into wider business objectives and strategy.
Laura has worked at b2b and b2c companies, global brands and professional services firms in roles ranging from digital strategist to on-air performer for broadcast radio. At Georgetown, Laura develops and executes the university’s social media strategy to strengthen and protect the university’s brand. She monitors trends and provides points of view for the university on emerging social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy.
Laura has developed social media activations for key university events including high-profile speakers like President Barack Obama, Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Former Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Laura’s efforts have led to increased engagement on Georgetown’s social media channels year over year from 2014 to 2015, winning an increase of over 348 percent in Facebook engagement, an increase of over 2007 percent in Instagram engagement, and a 190 percent increase in brand mentions on Twitter.
