Chances are, when you think of the terms “Velcro” and social media they may seem like an unlikely pair. However, much like brands like Kleenex and Xerox, the Velcro Companies has a global brand marketing team behind it.
Joining in a newly created position in 2014, Kara Hendrick manages the global social strategy of all corporate and brand channels, email marketing and content creation. Working with the different regions, including North America, LATAM, Europe and APAC, she’s helped grow the Velcro brand social channels over 182% in the past two years. She worked to create successful digital marketing initiatives with retailers such as the Home Depot, an influencer network/community focused on the craft, DIY, home, travel and tech space while also building out the company blog. She strategized and executed an “Amazing Connections” social media currency day featured in the Daily Mail at their award-winning Pop Up shop in NYC.
As an internal driver for change, she works hard with the different sales team members, many of whom have traditionally had their own ways of doing things for years and years, to help educate about the different social tools and platforms out there and how they can better leverage social media insights around the world.
